Good afternoon Lothrop Community!

Spring is finally here, even if it isn't the sunny day that we always imagine.  As the spring weather becomes more regular, please continue to send extra boots or shoes as the ground is likely to be very wet until at least April break.  Snow pants can be left at home if you would like :)

We are gathering pics and a story that we will share with you next week about Music in our Schools and the special guest band that performed for our school during our last Friday morning meeting.  Our Friday morning meetings will continue to be either virtual or on the blacktop until after April break as we transition to masks being optional.

This week our learners in K-4 will participate in Pittsford Reads.  To veteran Lothrop families, it is the new "Crime not to Read."
Maclure Library has teamed up with Omya to provide our learners in grades K-4 with beautiful books in the months of March, April and May.  This Thursday, a member of the Pittsford community will visit Lothrop, read a story to grade levels, and give out books.  We are extremely grateful for this to begin again!

We are currently working on Summer Learning Academy plans.  Teachers will have registration forms at Family Conferences and you can also let me know that you wish to participate by filling out the survey in today's Panther Press.  We really need all registration forms back by April 15th so that we can determine staffing needs.

Thank you to the many families that have purchased Basket Raffle Tickets for the 5/6 trip to Boston and dropped off bottles or cans this weekend for our Bottle Drive.  While the Raffle does not end until Thursday after Family Conferences, it has been a huge success so far.  Thanks as well to the many families and businesses that contributed baskets.

It was a wonderful week for sure as masks became optional and more smiles were seen.  So many faces had matured without us seeing, teeth were lost and new ones had grown in and we were unable to watch.  Putting the pandemic in the rearview mirror has been a hope for 2 years now-Monday was a special day.  I could not stop smiling, myself :)

A note from Central Office regarding a need for a Pittsford School Board member:

OVUU SEEKS SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS

Interested in becoming more involved in the school system? Consider becoming a school board member.

The Otter Valley Unified Union School Board is looking for interested parties to be appointed to the following open seats.

  • Leicester – 1 year remaining of a 3 year term

  • Pittsford  – 3 year term

  • At-Large – 1 year remaining of a 3 year term (candidates can be from any of the OVUUSD towns: Brandon; Goshen; Leicester; Pittsford Sudbury; and Whiting)

All appointed school board members would be serving through to the next election in March 2023, at which time they would be required to run and be elected to complete the terms.

Please use  Let’s Talk to submit Letters of Interest to the Board.

I look forward to seeing more families this Thursday for conferences.  If you still need an appointment, do not hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher, they want to meet with you :)

Wishing you a fantastic week! Please see this week's Panther Press here.

Best,
Deb
