Middle Level Learner at Starbase

Good afternoon Lothrop Community!

It has been a crazy start to the year with three COVID "events," but we made it to fall break, ready to move onward. We look forward to our learners from the last event returning this coming week.  I would like to send a special thank you to the families involved in the COVID events this year.  Your responses have been remarkable and we are very appreciative. Each case has unique circumstances and we are grateful for your quick responses in getting back to us and picking up children. I recognize that as workplaces return to a more "normal" status, it is becoming more and more difficult to stay home when children have to quarantine.

I want to share that there has been NO evidence of spread through any of the positive COVID cases last year and this year.  This is due to the fast response of families, keeping children home when they have even mild symptoms, and the amazing job that the staff and Lothrop learners are doing in following the guidelines put forth.  Truly a team effort!  We look forward to bringing you information regarding the "Test and Stay" antigen testing program as soon as it is available and Lothrop Staff will begin weekly optional surveillance testing to promote another layer of precaution.

This week's edition of Panther Press is pretty full of important information regarding upcoming events through Thanksgiving, family conferences, Family Engagement Night, SBAC Assessments, and much more!

A reminder that we continue to be short staff members and are still looking for a full-time paraeducator, and a long-term paraeducator sub and will be looking for a long-term sub for a 2nd-grade teacher.  We are always looking for substitute teachers at Lothrop.  If you are interested or know of anyone who is interested, please reach out to me and we can chat about what is open and how to apply.

I hope that you enjoy the rest of your Sunday and that should you have questions, concerns, or ideas that you will reach out to us.

Best,

Deb
