Principal's Page

Dear Families,

I write to let you know I have accepted the position as principal at JFK Elementary school in Winooski for the 2015 - 2016 school year. While this has been a difficult decision, I feel it is the right decision, both personally and professionally, for me and my family at this time.

I am incredibly proud of all the work that has been accomplished at Lothrop in the past two years. As a staff, we have risen to every challenge that has been presented to us. The community, RNESU, and school board are incredibly supportive of the school. The students at Lothrop are phenomenal children brimming with potential. I know that the wonderful work that we have started these past two years will continue after my departure.

Please know that I will work closely with Jeanne Collins and the search committee to find a principal for Lothrop that is a good fit. The Pittsford school and community deserve the best. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Sincerly,

Sara Raabe

Lost Children of the Far Islands Raabe, Emily 8 - 12 years 288 pages Science Fiction/Fantasy This book depicts a family who has a wonderful secret. The children have the ability to transform into animals. Throughout the story, readers find themselves immersed in the children's experiences. The language allows you to fully experience the adventure, courage, and magic that play vital roles throughout.
Mr. and Mrs. Bunny--Detectives Extraordinaire! Horvath, Polly Grades 3-5 274 pages Realistic Fiction Madeline's spacey parents are kidnapped by evil Foxes! Madeline turns to two Bunny Detectives to help her locate her parents, although they are not very good detectives. This book made my daughter and I laugh out loud as we read it together each night!
The Alchemyst (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel) Scott, Michael Grade 5 and up 402 pages Science Fiction/Fantasy 15 year old twins are sucked into a world of magic that they never knew existed. They are kidnapped for their own good, and turn out to have a key role in the possible outcomes. Book one ends in a perfect spot to make you want to pick up book two right away! I read the entire series - well worth it to get all the way to the end of the epic tale.
The Testing Charbonneau, Joelle Grades 7 and up 352 pages Dystopian I could not get through this series of 3 books fast enough. Once I was done one, I started the next one right away! A dystopian series that anyone who love Hunger Games would truly enjoy!
